Lucaya International School is the only school in The Bahamas to offer the International General Certificate of Secondary Education. (I.G.C.S.E.)  This examination is recognized world-wide and is offered at 2 levels - Foundation and Higher. Many of the top International and Private Schools in the world now offer this exam. 

L.I.S. offers the I.G.C.S.E. to students in year 11, and it serves as excellent preparation for the I.B. Diploma Programme offered in Years 12 and 13.

This past May students wrote the I.G.C.S.E. for the first time at L.I.S.  The majority of our students were entered for the Higher-level papers, which meant they could achieve a grade ranging from A* - F. For the Foundation level, the grades that a student could achieve ranged from C – G. 

The school's procedure for determining closures during the tropical storm season is that the school will close upon receipt of an official Tropical Storm Warning or Hurricane Warning issued by the Bahamian Government.

The school will not ordinarily close upon either a Tropical Storm Watch or Hurricane Watch.

The grades are in and the final choices have been made, soon the Class of 2008 will be away to school at the following institutions;
